Background of the study
Career guidance is crucial in shaping the future of students, especially in secondary schools, where students are at a critical juncture in their educational journey. In Katsina Local Government Area, Katsina State, students often face challenges in making informed decisions about their career paths due to the lack of accessible and personalized career guidance services (Abubakar & Bello, 2023). Without proper guidance, students may struggle with selecting appropriate academic courses, leading to misaligned career goals and suboptimal job market preparation (Yusuf & Alhaji, 2023). Traditional career counseling methods, such as one-on-one meetings with counselors or group sessions, are often limited by time and accessibility, especially in rural areas.
The growing reliance on digital technology offers an opportunity to revolutionize career counseling by creating a web-based system that can deliver personalized career guidance, provide resources, and offer real-time support to students (Jibril & Ali, 2023). This study aims to design and implement a web-based career guidance system that will assist secondary school students in Katsina Local Government Area in making well-informed decisions about their future academic and career paths.
Statement of the problem
Secondary school students in Katsina Local Government Area face challenges in accessing career guidance services that could help them make informed decisions about their future. This study seeks to design and implement a web-based career guidance system to provide students with timely and personalized advice regarding potential career paths.
Objectives of the study
To design a user-friendly web-based career guidance system for secondary school students in Katsina Local Government Area.
To implement the career guidance system in selected secondary schools in Katsina and assess its impact on students' decision-making.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the system in helping students identify career opportunities and make informed choices regarding their future.
